 Essay Contest

"ADAPTED SPORTS ARE IMPORTANT"
ESSAY CONTEST

Being a member of a team has numerous benefits, including opportunities for social interaction, improved physical fitness and health, developing discipline, and learning to work as a team.  Typically developing children have countless opportunities to participate in competitive sports, whether it is during recess playing a pick-up game of basketball, or in an organized league. Children with special needs would also benefit from participating in team sports, but there are limited opportunities for them to do so.

DMYF is dedicated to providing children with special needs the opportunities to participate in recreational activities not typically made available to them. In order to increase community awareness about the availability, and importance of adaptive sports programs, DMYF hosts an annual "Adapted Sports Are Important" an essay contest.

DMYF would like to know your thoughts on adapted sports through your creative expression.
